Two times a year: Spring & Fall

Taylor Rodeo

July 19-20

Since 1950, the Taylor Rodeo Association has proudly brought to you the Taylor Annual Rodeo in the hometown of Bill Pickett. The crowds that come to this yearly event have grown because of the enthusiasm and the excitement– but most of all for the entertainment they receive. Over the years the Taylor Annual Rodeo has become the big fish in a small pond. It is one of the biggest and best small-town rodeos anywhere.

Main Street Car Show

October 26th

The Main Street Car Show is an annual event held in late October/early November. This event is sponsored by the City of Taylor and Main Street Taylor, Texas, and in the past has featured art exhibitions, food, music, raffle prizes, and shopping, along with a wide array of impressive cars.

Patriot Day Parade

Held on September 11th each year

The Taylor Fire Department brings the community together every year on September 11th to honor those who lost their lives in the attacks that occurred in 2001. During this event, emergency personnel and vehicles parade through downtown Taylor.

Taylor Fest

First weekend in May

Formerly known as Blackland Prairie Day, this annual festival takes place during the first weekend of May every year. This festival is sponsored by the Main Street Program, a program which focuses on downtown revitalization within the context of historical preservation. The Taylor Main Street Program supports the redevelopment of the downtown area through historical preservation, education, economic development, and heritage tourism. This event includes live music, live multicultural dances, food vendors, and arts and crafts booths.

Fireworks Show

Held on July 4th each year

The annual Taylor fireworks show is held in beautiful Murphy Park each year on July 4th at dusk to celebrate America’s independence.

Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony

First Saturday in December

The Taylor Ministerial Alliance hosts a Christmas Parade of Lights followed by the official Christmas Tree lighting ceremony by the City of Taylor every year on the first Saturday in December.

Second Saturday of the month

Every Second Saturday, downtown Taylor businesses join together for a full day of food, beer, music, art, movies and shopping. Take a day trip to Taylor!

Farmers Market on Main

Every Saturday 10am – 2pm

At the Heritage Square Pavilion, we have vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables, pasture-raised meats, fresh eggs, salsas, pickles and relishes, soaps, handcrafted items, bedding plants and more. Support local!

Numerous BBQ Cook-Offs

Year-round

Taylor hosts numerous BBQ cook-offs throughout the year, including the Taylor International BBQ Cook-Off in August.

17th Annual Taylor SPJST BBQ Cook-Off

Join Taylor SPJST at Lodge 29 for their annual BBQ Cook-Off, featuring free dancing, a silent auction and prize money for the best BBQ in Taylor!

Kid Fish

Grab your fishing pole for this family friendly fishing event for kids under age 16 at Bull Branch Park (small pond near Lynn St.)!  The event is proudly hosted by the Kid Fish program and is a favorite annual event in Taylor. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. with the event kicking off at 9 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for multiple categories.

Pre-rigged poles and bait provided if you don’t have your own.  Trophies and tee shirts can be purchased at the event.  Call 512-352-5818 for more details.

Good Life Taylor Fair & 5K
Oct 14 @ 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

THE 5K

Enjoy a quiet, quaint, but quick run. Designed with input from competitive runners, our course zips you through North Taylor with multiple changes in scenery on a flat route. We start and finish in Bull Branch Park, but you’ll also experience a bit of our countryside and Taylor living.

No matter your experience, we encourage all skill levels to participate. Strollers, teams & costumes are welcome!

Awards will be presented to 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place in each Men’s and Women’s divisions. Our divisions are divided by age groups: 13 & Under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

KIDS’ K

The Kids’ K will be held within Bull Branch park where families can watch and cheer for our youngest participants. Kids will run a 1/2 mile on the hike & bike trail. Medals for all children entered. KIDS RUN FREE THIS YEAR! (Ages 3-13 entered in the Kids’ K)

GOOD LIFE 2017 FAIR

Good Life Taylor, Texas will host its annual fair at Bull Branch Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come for the 5K, but stay for the excellent fair!

  • Poultry Petting Zoo — Learn about keeping a backyard flock in Taylor. Observe and pet a variety of live poultry.
  • Chicken Splat Bingo — Pick your favorite number for a chance to win a cool prize!
  • Interactive Displays — Meet police and firefighters and explore their vehicles.
  • Information Booths & Games — Play old-fashioned fair games while learning more about our community and local groups.
  • Brunch — Healthy, post-race treat.

Taylor “Graveyard Rumble”

This 3-game minimum, pool-play style tournament is for ages 7U to 14U.

Gate admissions – $5 a day per adult (17 and up)

Haunted Taylor Ghost Tour
Oct 21 @ 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Join guides from the Taylor Conservation and Heritage Society on a nighttime stroll through the murderous and macabre, the frightening and fascinating, history of Taylor.

HISTORY
Revel in tales of Taylor’s rough and tumble past and the stories behind many familiar buildings (and the structures that preceded them) in our historic downtown.

MYSTERY
Learn of strange happenings in the heart of our city from more than a hundred years ago and the haunting vestiges that remain to this day.

MURDER
Hear accounts of bloody shootouts, brutal bludgeonings, and dreadful mutilations on the streets of old town Taylor.

Location: Meet at the Louie Mueller BBQ parking lot on 2nd street. The tour will last up to an hour and half and is approximately 3/4 of a mile long.
