Introductory Clay Class-Hand Building Intro
Aug 31 @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

This is a great way to experience making pottery for the first time. We want you to have a great time creating pottery whether you are a beginner or more advanced. However, please remember this is just an introduction to clay. We cannot guarantee high quality results for pottery made during the session. Our goal is to provide you with a great event to remember!
Students are invited to learn to build a clay item using rolled slabs, coil or pinch pot methods. You’ll decorate the item with our assortment of texture tools, then pick a glaze color.
We will fire your pieces in our kiln with a single glaze of your choice from our studio selection. Pieces will be fired and ready for pickup within a couple weeks.

An Evening with the Author

Author Ken Anderson will be speaking about Taylor’s own Gov. Dan Moody. Anderson’s book “Dan Moody, Crusader for Justice” is the only biography of Texas’ youngest governor. Dan Moody was a young District Attorney for Travis and Williamson counties when he successfully prosecuted cases against four members of the Ku Klux Klan. Those trials took place 100 years ago this year. Join us and learn how this Taylor native made history. Admission is free but seating is limited.

Remember SHOW & TELL from when you were a kid? This is kinda like that, but for grown up kids. We love hearing people talk about something they love. So come and have a drink, or a snack + share something that has a story. This can be an actual THING: an old baseball glove or the book you named your kid after, or it can be a CREATION: a poem or a song or a painting (yours or someone elses’). Just make sure you keep your share to under 5 minutes! Theme: Hot Mess

Gang of Five Art Exhibit
Sep 9 @ 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

The McCrory Timmerman Galleries, 112 W. 2nd Street, Taylor, are pleased to present a group exhibition of new collaborative works, as well as a selection of individual pieces, by five essential artists. The Gang of Five Art Exhibit will run from September 9 – October 14, 2023 with an artists’ reception on Saturday, September 9, from 4 – 7 p.m.  Please join us for the opening or stop by the building during office hours.

Featuring Five Central Texas artists: Linda Anderson, Beatrice Baldwin, Christopher Hynes, Ruth Lauer and Paul Sonnenberg. The collaborative pieces are the result of a round-robin art group collaboration. One person brings an inspirational starting piece or something that they are stuck on. In turn the artists add their contribution allowing the work to gradually evolve. The only guideline is to respect and respond to the in-progress work.  The collaborative dialogue brings unexpected results and creative magic. Come see what happens when we make art and pass it on!
