Taylor Rodeo

July 19-20

Since 1950, the Taylor Rodeo Association has proudly brought to you the Taylor Annual Rodeo in the hometown of Bill Pickett. The crowds that come to this yearly event have grown because of the enthusiasm and the excitement– but most of all for the entertainment they receive. Over the years the Taylor Annual Rodeo has become the big fish in a small pond. It is one of the biggest and best small-town rodeos anywhere.

Main Street Car Show

October 26th

The Main Street Car Show is an annual event held in late October/early November. This event is sponsored by the City of Taylor and Main Street Taylor, Texas, and in the past has featured art exhibitions, food, music, raffle prizes, and shopping, along with a wide array of impressive cars.

Patriot Day Parade

Held on September 11th each year

The Taylor Fire Department brings the community together every year on September 11th to honor those who lost their lives in the attacks that occurred in 2001. During this event, emergency personnel and vehicles parade through downtown Taylor.

Taylor Fest

First weekend in May

Formerly known as Blackland Prairie Day, this annual festival takes place during the first weekend of May every year. This festival is sponsored by the Main Street Program, a program which focuses on downtown revitalization within the context of historical preservation. The Taylor Main Street Program supports the redevelopment of the downtown area through historical preservation, education, economic development, and heritage tourism. This event includes live music, live multicultural dances, food vendors, and arts and crafts booths.

Fireworks Show

Held on July 4th each year

The annual Taylor fireworks show is held in beautiful Murphy Park each year on July 4th at dusk to celebrate America’s independence.

Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony

First Saturday in December

The Taylor Ministerial Alliance hosts a Christmas Parade of Lights followed by the official Christmas Tree lighting ceremony by the City of Taylor every year on the first Saturday in December.

Second Saturday of the month

Every Second Saturday, downtown Taylor businesses join together for a full day of food, beer, music, art, movies and shopping. Take a day trip to Taylor!

Farmers Market on Main

Every Saturday 10am – 2pm

At the Heritage Square Pavilion, we have vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables, pasture-raised meats, fresh eggs, salsas, pickles and relishes, soaps, handcrafted items, bedding plants and more. Support local!

Numerous BBQ Cook-Offs

Year-round

Taylor hosts numerous BBQ cook-offs throughout the year, including the Taylor International BBQ Cook-Off in August.

Haunted Taylor Ghost Tour
Oct 21 @ 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Join guides from the Taylor Conservation and Heritage Society on a nighttime stroll through the murderous and macabre, the frightening and fascinating, history of Taylor.

HISTORY
Revel in tales of Taylor’s rough and tumble past and the stories behind many familiar buildings (and the structures that preceded them) in our historic downtown.

MYSTERY
Learn of strange happenings in the heart of our city from more than a hundred years ago and the haunting vestiges that remain to this day.

MURDER
Hear accounts of bloody shootouts, brutal bludgeonings, and dreadful mutilations on the streets of old town Taylor.

Location: Meet at the Louie Mueller BBQ parking lot on 2nd street. The tour will last up to an hour and half and is approximately 3/4 of a mile long.

Family Night – Crafts

5th Annual Main Street Car Show
Oct 28 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Join us in Historic Downtown Taylor for our 5th Annual Main Street Car Show. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever!

  • Free – General Public
  • $10 – Car Show Registration

This is a family-friendly event and includes cars, live music, food trucks, craft beer, raffle prizes, goodie bags, vendors and more. The festival is from 10am-4pm, and you’re also invited to stick around afterwards and enjoy an eventful evening in downtown Taylor with multiple live music venues.

We’ll have Classic cars, Muscle cars, Exotics, Trucks, Vans, Novelties, Rat Rods, Motorcycles and more. For car show participants, vehicle registration is $10. Awards will be given out, with no specific classes.

This year’s event will benefit the Texas Critter Crusaders and Good Life Taylor, Texas. We will be accepting monetary donations as well as pet food and canned food.

Car registration will be at 4th and Porter starting at 8:00 AM, just east of Main Street. The festival begins at 10:00 AM.

2017 Dickey Day Parade & Health Fair

The Blackshear/O. L. Price Ex-Student Association will honor and celebrate the Birthday & legacy of Dr. James Lee Dickey (November 12, 1893 – May 18, 1959) Saturday, November 11, 2017, in Taylor, Texas. We will celebrate the life of a man who was an advocate for the community, health care, and civil rights in Taylor, 1952 Citizen of the Year. We will celebrate a man who was recognized during his life work for numerous things but most of all his tireless efforts to improve the lives of the Taylor African American Community.
